Take a look at the groundbreaking photo exhibition ‘Liefdevolle lijven” by Dito vzw, an association of and for people with disabilities or chronic illnesses, in collaboration with photographer Morgane Gielen. With Loving Bodies, viewers are privileged to get a glimpse into the intimate lives of twenty loving people. Some have disabilities, others do not. Some are steady partners, some are not. All in all, each individual is intimate with his, her, or their partner, each in their own way. Why this exhibition?Because experiencing sexuality is everyone’s right, whether you have a disability or illness or not. Sexuality in people with disabilities is usually denied. We don’t talk about it. We pretend it doesn’t exist. Yet the desire for sex and intimacy is normal. Man is a sexual being. With this photo exhibition, we want to highlight this. Eliminate prejudice. To tell a positive story about sexuality experiences of people with and without disabilities or illnesses. We are convinced that this genuine openness about sexuality can lead to emotion and (re)recognition.
